Do not try to write your business plan in one sitting. As I mentioned in the beginning, for a traditional brick and mortar business, it could take in excess of 100 hours to compile all of the information needed into a comprehensive but yet understandable document. For online businesses, probably not that long. But your final product should be well thought out, well documented and easily understandable.
Plan Creation Process _ Typically, the process for creating a business plan goes like this: The client discusses their business with the writer and pays a deposit. Not only will KPI's help identify key shortfalls in the plan, but will help narrow your focus in addressing the shortfalls. For instance, recognizing that you have an issue in labor isn't merely enough when you consider the following possibilities: a) labor rates may be too high; b) overtime has exceeded its budget; c) the issue is regionally_based, not across the board; d) man hours may have exceeded its allocated budget, etc. It could be a myriad of triggers that caused labor to exceed its budget and KPI's enable you to drill down to the cause. KPI management requires a disciplined review process established monthly that fosters a blended analysis throughout the year that compares actual results against both budgets and forecasts.

Environments were created that made it possible for people to reach levels of success they never thought possible. Success came because of the use of real leadership, lean principles, employee involvement, a trusting environment, good communication, continuous improvement, and solid operating systems. The results were people working toward an error free workplace, waste reduction, and a very positive attitude toward meeting goals and expectations. This resulted in labor content reductions, major reductions in labor turnover, major increases in inventory turns, reductions in cycle times, improved customer relations, strong teams, and improved employee satisfaction. I have had the good fortune to have practiced and proven that creating the right environment will cause people to want to participate in helping organizations meet their goals and visions because it is an environment that lets them build success for themselves as well helping everyone else build theirs. I believe strongly that you cannot motivate people but that the right environment is what motivates people.
