I mentioned the financial aspect of a plan earlier, so let me add this. Another fact about financials to consider: not all business activities are about making money. Point being, in most enterprises financial considerations are centric to the document. But there are some other considerations. For example, a few years ago I wrote a plan for a new subsidiary that was focused on developing an inventory of patents. The potential financial returns were years into the future. Those patents may or may not ever have commercial value. Another example is a non_profit enterprise that has need for a complete roadmap for growing their profile in a market, of which a marketing plan would be the centerpiece.
Are you at a point with your business where you just don't know what to do next? Do you have a business plan? How about a growth business plan? Have you looked at a lot of different ways to grow your business and nothing seems to work? The right growth business plan could be your answer. If a growth business plan is done the right way it may open up some opportunities you have never thought about before. A growth business plan can be developed many different ways but I would like to discuss a growth business plan that you may have never thought about.
So, you see, once you decide which of the 7 ways you're going to do, then the only thing left for you to do is figure out how to make the one or ones you have chosen work. No doubt there would be a lot work to do to do a plan like this. You would need to figure out how to put it all together, do all the calculations, do a lot of what if's, etc.. And I'm sure one of the biggest things would be, would you actually take the time to do something like this or even have the time to do it? You could pay someone to do it but that would probably cost you a lot. Plus if you did that, most likely it would require a lot of back and forth work to get it just like you wanted it which would be even more expensive. But even then, would you spend the money to do it?
38 of my 41 years were in management and leadership roles. Some of my disciplines were manufacturing operations and processes, quality systems including ISO, materials, supply chain logistics, engineering, purchasing, HR functions including union and nonunion operations, concurrent engineering from product design to the customer, and upper management, and supervision training. Experiences also included a number of special projects such as managing plant shutdowns, project director of facility relocations including feasibility studies, designing of lean manufacturing concepts for new operations, development and startup of new facilities, plant and process moves to new locations, and hiring and training of staffs and workforces for new locations.
