There are many reasons for utilizing such a document. Is the final document going to be about implementing a decision already having been reached or is it about analysis and recommendations for a newly proposed activity. As noted above, a finished document may be for internal or external purposes. Externally they are often used to solicit funding for a start_up or joint venture. Whatever the purpose, do not confuse effort with say, a marketing or a production plan.
So, let's see how we would make a business plan that would show exactly how your business could give you the salary you want. First you would determine what you would like your salary to be. You've dreamed about having a nice income to support your dreams I'm sure. Let's say right now you only make what your profit is giving you which might not be much. So let's say the first year, next year, you would love to have a consistent monthly salary of Ŭꯠ a month, every month. And every year you would like to be able to increase it so that after 10 years it would be at บꯠ per month. And let's say you would like to grow your business 10% each year.
Why do you need to know these percentages? As your sales increases or decreases, your material cost, labor cost, and variable expenses will track accordingly. They will track very close to the same % as your current business. As an example, let's say your current sales is averaging 贄ꯠ per month and your material cost is averaging ฤꯠ per month. That's 20% of your sales (ฤꯠ ÷ 贄ꯠ = 20%). So, what would your material cost be if your sales were averaging 赨ꯠ per month? It would still be 20% but it would be 20% of 赨ꯠ or ุꯠ. So with these percentages, you can project your material, labor and variable expenses. See how it works?
Prove the Viability of Your Idea to Others _ A business plan is a great way to prove to yourself that your ideas are viable and that the catering company that you are proposing can thrive and make a profit. You will also need a plan in order to prove to other people that the business model that you have in mind is financially sound. Think of your business plan as being like a resume that you can hand out to people who need information about your business. You can always leave out sections that are not relevant to the reader in question.
